Snowy run this morning at the community TrackTown Fitness run at Hayward Field. Did 5.6 at an 8:54 pace today. Getting there!

Today was a gift: Collected family memories (cards and letters) from my late aunt’s house. Included were the letters from my great-grandfather to my grandfather sharing the death of his brother in WWII. Incredibly meaningful to hold the original paper and read the words . . .

Morning Run Sign

I run past this and find the signs funny. This was today’s…

Pitchers and Catchers . . .

Micro Monday follow: @jacoby - Not only did I recently discover we have a common field of work (Ed-Tech), he’s also a runner. Plus he lives in a state I’d quite like to visit someday. :-)

Nice early morning run in some light mist. Two races coming up in April - time to extend the mileage now . . . .

This kid and I went on adventures this weekend … a long bike ride on Saturday and a dusk hike one of the buttes that borders our town on Sunday. It’s always a blast to do stuff with her…!

After a fantastic show by Bruce Cockburn in Grants Pass, Oregon last night I had the chance to say thanks to him for his inspiration and his art. He is by far for me the most influential musician in my life… it was a very special evening.

The eyes have it . . . at least today. Good news: I do not have to return for two years. ;-)

Too many clouds this morning to see the total lunar eclipse - but it can be streamed here live via NASA TV: www.youtube.com/watch

Added a new book to my “to-read” list: Steven Pinker’s upcoming book, “Enlightenment Now.” Found via this interview: Pinker and Gates Also This

Full Workbench Today…

The office move has cramped us a bit for the time being…

Spent a nice day at the beach today - Lincoln City to be exact… There’s something wonderful about the ocean no matter the season…!

“Good game, good game, good game . . .” Basketball season begins - :-)

I’m reading this book now … it’s quite good - the history of genetics and how we discovered DNA and RNA. Much of it is over my head at this point but it’s worth reading… 📚

Winter Term 2018 starts Monday! Mac attack…

We ran in the “First Run 5k” at midnight to ring in 2018. It was a super fun run along the Willamette River here in Eugene complete with glow sticks and mid-30s temperatures. The kids and I had a great time. Happy New Year everyone!

No Days Off running calendar for 2018 - here we go!

Registration complete: Hot Springs Trail Run - 18 Miles - in April.
