We ran in our local Father’s Day 5k Run today… the kids and I had a great time. Both were surprised and pleased to set new PRs for a 5k, too. I’ve had my share of thoughts today on who I am as a father, who my father was (and is at 89 years old) and even his father, too. I’m grateful in so many ways and on so many levels. I think, like many things, there’s a developmental timeline with parenthood. It’s changing as the kids change and grow which in turn pushes us to change and grow. It’s not comfortable either (at times). I’m starting to bump into areas that I know will challenge and make me slow down and reflect, act and not react, and ultimately continue to develop positive relationships with them as they get older… onwards!
